A Geographical Indication is an intellectual property right used for a product whose quality, reputation, or other characteristics are linked to a specific place of origin. It protects the regional name and helps genuine producer communities distinguish their products from imitations.
What does Human Welfare Association do for GI products?
HWA works with producer groups, institutions, and state stakeholders to identify and document eligible products, prepare GI applications, support the registration process, and promote protected products and artisan livelihoods after registration.
