Dr. Rajani Kant conferred D.Litt. (Honoris Causa) for social service and GI leadership
With the blessings of Baba, Padma Shri Dr. Rajani Kant, General Secretary of Human Welfare Association, was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.), Honoris Causa, by Arunachal University of Studies. The honour was presented during the University’s 9th Convocation held at Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, on 11 February 2025.
The distinction recognised his sustained contribution to social service, women’s empowerment, artisan livelihoods, child rights, skill development and the protection of India’s traditional knowledge through Geographical Indications. The ceremony was attended by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Chowna Mein, University Chancellor Dr. Kamal Lochan and other distinguished guests.
HWA’s technical support has played an important role in strengthening Arunachal Pradesh’s GI ecosystem. At the time of the honour, 18 indigenous textile, agricultural, handloom and handicraft products from the state had secured GI registration, while 14 additional applications were progressing through the registration process. This represented the highest number of registered GI products among the North-Eastern states at that time.
The recognition belongs not only to one individual, but also to the artisan communities, farmers, weavers, institutions and partners whose knowledge and collective effort sustain Arunachal Pradesh’s living cultural heritage. HWA remains committed to helping these communities protect their identity, strengthen livelihoods and carry their traditions confidently into the future.

समाज सेवा और जीआई नेतृत्व के लिए डॉ. रजनीकांत को मानद डी.लिट. की उपाधि
बाबा की कृपा से ह्यूमन वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन के महासचिव पद्मश्री डॉ. रजनीकांत को अरुणाचल यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ स्टडीज द्वारा डॉक्टर ऑफ लिटरेचर (डी.लिट.), मानद उपाधि से सम्मानित किया गया। यह सम्मान 11 फ़रवरी 2025 को नामसाई, अरुणाचल प्रदेश में आयोजित विश्वविद्यालय के नौवें दीक्षांत समारोह में प्रदान किया गया।
यह उपाधि समाज सेवा, महिला सशक्तिकरण, कारीगरों की आजीविका, बाल अधिकार, कौशल विकास तथा भौगोलिक संकेतक (जीआई) के माध्यम से भारत की पारंपरिक विरासत के संरक्षण में उनके दीर्घकालीन योगदान के लिए प्रदान की गई। समारोह में अरुणाचल प्रदेश के उपमुख्यमंत्री डॉ. चौना मीन, विश्वविद्यालय के कुलाधिपति डॉ. कमल लोचन और अन्य विशिष्ट अतिथि उपस्थित रहे।
ह्यूमन वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन के तकनीकी सहयोग ने अरुणाचल प्रदेश के जीआई प्रयासों को मजबूत बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। सम्मान के समय राज्य के 18 पारंपरिक वस्त्र, कृषि, हथकरघा और हस्तशिल्प उत्पादों को जीआई पंजीकरण प्राप्त हो चुका था, जबकि 14 अन्य आवेदनों की पंजीकरण प्रक्रिया चल रही थी। उस समय यह पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों में पंजीकृत जीआई उत्पादों की सर्वाधिक संख्या थी।
यह सम्मान केवल एक व्यक्ति का नहीं, बल्कि उन कारीगरों, किसानों, बुनकरों, संस्थाओं और सहयोगियों का भी है, जिनके ज्ञान और सामूहिक प्रयासों से अरुणाचल प्रदेश की जीवंत सांस्कृतिक विरासत सुरक्षित है। ह्यूमन वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन इन समुदायों की पहचान, आजीविका और परंपराओं को सशक्त बनाने के लिए अपना कार्य जारी रखेगा।
