Training & Orientation
A two-day induction-cum-Training of Trainers was organized by CHAI on 11 October 2013 at SSK, Lucknow, in which HWA’s core staff (DC & BCs) participated. A one-day training was organized at HWA Resource Centre on 19 October 2013 per the guidelines shared during the induction. From November 2013, within one month, 6 batch trainings were organized and 187 ASHAs were oriented and trained.
Field Activities
- Daily visits of Behaviour Change Communicators (BCs) to Front Line Workers (FLWs): Till date, 1812 ASHAs, 416 AWWs, and 205 ANMs were visited to review, refresh, and reinforce key messages on diarrhoea management with Zinc + ORS.
- Sector/PHC level meetings: 126 meetings covering 2790 FLWs of 8 blocks, plus 108 block-level meetings covering 1015 participants.
- Community forums/events: 147 VHND meetings covering 1579 people, and 54 VHSC meetings reaching more than 450 people.
- Tahsil-level meetings: 18 meetings interacting with 729 people.
- District-level meetings: 9 meetings organized by the DC at HWA Resource Centre.
- Quarterly Review and Learning Meeting (QRLM): organized on 21 September 2013 and again on 29 March 2014 at HWA Resource Centre.
January – April 2014 Highlights
A total of 1810 ASHAs and 95 other FLWs were visited through 3 BCs across 8 blocks; 22 PHC-team meetings were organized; 2025 FLWs received refresher training; 61 community forums/events (VHNDs) were attended; and 8 block- and tahsil-level meetings raised ground-level issues, including the procurement of ORS and zinc for ASHAs.
