e-NGO National Programme โ€” C/O Digital Empowerment Foundation, 44, III Floor, Kalu Sarai, New Delhi-110016. By Human Welfare Association, Varanasi.

Human Welfare Association is facilitating a process, with the support of the Digital Empowerment Foundation, New Delhi, to launch an e-NGO program for the preparation of dedicated websites for NGOs to promote handicrafts and handloom. The services and training to operate the website are free from DEF; NGOs contribute a minimum one-time amount for web hosting. The NGOs own their websites and run them directly after local training.

It is an excellent opportunity for NGOs working in the development sector to promote artisans, weavers, and other marginalized groups. The website becomes a showcase of their excellent work for the international and local community and various stakeholders.

A 2-day orientation workshop was organized on 16โ€“17 January 2011 at Varanasi for the NGOs registering for the website.

Why a Reliable Database Matters

A reliable database is a key input to policy decision-making, especially for the micro and small enterprise (MSE) sector. The promotional package for the MSE sector includes a scheme for capacity building, strengthening of database, and advocacy by industry/enterprise associations โ€” providing financial assistance to selected national associations annually, and support for holding seminars, symposiums, and workshops to give due publicity to government initiatives for the development of the MSE sector.
